 What I Do
I am many things. First of all, I'm human (at least 99%, methinks). A very close second, I'm a skydiver.
Third, I'm a motion graphics, animation, 3D, and video editing dude. Fourth, I'm a software/Internet/networking
engineer kinda person. I have a bit of artistic talent somewhere up in my head up here, too. Also, I'm a nice
guy, too, also. :)
I'm powered by Coca-Cola and Java (Java the language and Java the drink). As a computer geek, I drink
Java, C/C++, PHP, PERL, and various other programming languages, too. As a skydiver and social kinda person,
after the props stop spinning, I like beer. Yum. Funny thing: I don't drink it at home; only in social
situations. Vewy stwange.
I believe in whirled pees and think we should all work to stop the violins. Also, don't put beings in
your ears. Cheese is very funny and lint should not be taken lightly. Every attempt should be made to fart
in cramped public places. If you lie, do it with statistics. But don't lie. It's not too cool.
Last year, I sold my company, webMojo, Inc., to a technology consulting firm.
I am now the VP of Development. We write custom web-based software and database applications and we do very, very
jiggy web design and graphics.
This web site was one of the first "complete" sites I ever created. I started it in late summer 1995 and finished
it at the end of that year. I had to create some homemade technology to make the site do things that were
otherwise not possible until the advent of Flash and Java. Since it was pretty much the first one, it
is (up until now) by no means my greatest work (at all). But it was fun and a terrific learning experience.
Some of the effects on this site are based on phat (or jiggy or whatever word is hip) bits of code I wrote
with a touch creative ideas and pencil lead. Groovy, no?
Soon (this was written/updated January 5, 2001), there will be a newer and improved version of SkyFry!
Stay tuned. Many things are being rewritten in PHP and Java servlets with ties to a SQL database.
A lot of the web development I've done can be seen at the webMojo site. One
very cool project I worked on for a while is a 100% pure Java email server, complete with SMTP, POP3, web access
and remote web-based administration. It's way, way-wicked-cool and sooooooo easy to configure. It makes people
happy. Now, it sits in a folder on the hard drive, covered by cob webs.
I also do graphics layout and design. I've drawn up many logos, diagrams, illustrations, and touched up a few
zillion photographs, too. The combination of my artistic abilities and programming experience (over 16 years!) give me
a good perspective on web site design. webMojo, Inc. shines at coming up with
major-bitchin' solutions for Internet and web development problems. Especially those problems which require REAL
database programming using open standards and open systems (such as SQL, Java, C, PHP, Linux, etc.).
